The historic turnout at Solar Power 2006 captures what an exciting year this has been for the US solar energy industry. We have seen record levels of venture capital investment, game-changing public policies, industry-wide manufacturing expansions, and broad public interest in the context of a growing energy crisis.
As we consider how solar energy can become a significant part of the US energy mix in the next ten years, it is clear that innovations will be required to overcome the challenges and seize on the opportunities that lie ahead. The objective of Solar Power 2006 is to shine a spotlight on emerging business models, technologies, and policies, and the spirit of innovation that will guide the growth of our industry in years to come. “In a time of drastic change,” the saying goes, “it is the learners who inherit the future.”
