Thousands of veterans, families and friends from around the country will come to Washington, D.C. for the annual Memorial Day Observance at The Wall, co-hosted by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and the National Park Service.

Featured speakers will be: Maj. Gen. Ronald S. Coleman, USMC; William P. Frank, senior partner, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP; Laura Palmer, author of Shrapnel in the Heart; Joseph M. Lawler, regional director, National Capital Region, National Park Service; and Diane Carlson Evans, founder and president, Vietnam Women’s Memorial Foundation. Jan C. Scruggs, founder and president of the Memorial Fund, will be the master of ceremonies. The pledge of allegiance will be led by James H. Hall, national vice commander of the American Legion.

The names of four servicemen recently added to The Wall will be read by Mark Rumley, brother of Capt. Robert Patrick Rumley Jr. Recently added names are:

  • Army SP4 Bobby Gene Barbre, Carmi, Ill., Panel 25W, Line 29
  • Marine Lance Cpl. George Bryant Givens Jr., Robards, Ky., Panel 14E, Line 63
  • Marine Private Hans Jorg Rudolph Lorenz, Ontario, Canada, Panel 6E, Line 111
  • Marine Capt. Robert Patrick Rumley Jr., Medford, Mass., Panel 14E, Line 95.
